AS
PARENTS, WE ALL naturally
want the best for our children. We want them
to learn and do well in school, to thrive and be happy, to grow up and be successful
as adults.
• But what if our child is not doing well at school?
• What if our child has been labeled dyslexic, ADD, ADHD, language processing
disorder, unmotivated, or "just" average?
• What if our child is getting good grades but at a cost to his/her emotional
well-being?
• What if our child lacks confidence in his own abilities or value?
• What if our child believes she is not smart?
• What if our child is turned off to learning?
How can our children grow up with confidence and
positive attitudes if they continually experience anxiety and/or failure in
school? How can they become successful adults who believe in themselves and
are able to go for what they want if they think they are not very smart or don't
recognize the wonderful gifts and talents they have? How can they discover their
unique paths in life if they believe they are damaged goods and have nothing
to contribute to the world?
Millions of parents can't understand why their bright children
are struggling in school. What they don't realize is that children learn in
a multitude of ways, and trying to fit every child into the same mold often
leads to under-achieving students and frustrated parents. Children's "learning
styles" are determined by the child's inherent strengths and weaknesses,
goals and interests, and inner pace. This book offers a new approach to learning
that can greatly enrich every child's education and future success.
In Discover Your Child's Learning Style, respected
educators Mariaemma Willis and Victoria Kindle Hodson go well beyond the conventional
idea of visual/auditory/kinesthetic learning. Here they provide a complete program
for assessing a child's inner strengths according to his or her:
- Disposition
- Preferred environment
- Talents
- Interests,
- Ability to process information
This easy-to-understand book contains a
complete personal profile assessment that helps parents determine the learning
styles of every member of the family. In addition, the authors provide a step-by-step
guide for creating an atmosphere at home or school that will help encourage
a child's full potential. Discover
Your Child's Learning Style gives parents the tools and the confidence
to
realize how smart our children are; to let go of any negative labels; to talk
to our children's teachers; to customize a program for our children if weare
homeschooling; to have peace of mind regarding our children's capabilities and
future
Thinking/Creating, Performing, Inventing,
Producing, or Relating/Inspiring people - we can find out if they process information
best through visual, auditory, kinesthetic, verbal language, or printed language
means. We can find out if they learn best in an environment that is quiet or
noisy orncludes music; while sitting, reclining, alone, or with others. What
are your child's natural gifts and what does he/she love to do? Trying to fit
every child into the same mold often leads to underachieving students and frustrated
parents.
Here's just a small example of why we at
CNE love the work that LearningSuccess Institute are doing, and why this book
so richly deserves this month's SEAL OF EXCELLENCE AWARD.
"Did you know... Kids who are labeled
dyslexic are NOT print learners but picture and hands-on learners? People who
are labeled ADD have Inventing and Thinking-Creating learning styles? Kids who
have a Performing Disposition need movement to learn and are most often labeled
hyperactive?
It's time to take charge of your child's education
- whether you homeschool or your child attends traditional school. YOU are the
most important teacher in your child's life. YOU can make the difference. YOU
can coach your child to be on the path to success - now and for life!
Your child is waiting... let Discover Your Child's
Learning Style show you how to be your child's Success Coach for life!
Learning Success Institute's Philosophies:
The one subject we don't study - ourselves - may
be the basis for success in studying all the others.
The Learning Style Model of Education helps adults
and children discover their unique learning needs. We present a positive approach
that is based on working with each person’s natural gifts and dispositions,
rather than applying dysfunctional labels such as A.D.D., Dyslexic, Hyperactive,
or Learning Disabled.
We help adults and children use their Learning
Styles as doorways into their unique ways of learning in order to reach academic
goals and to discover their direction in life."
