Faces Cards
Feeling Faces Cards
are an effective resource for practitioners in a variety of helping and learning
environments. They are also a brilliant resource for parents interested in developing
their children's emotional intelligence. The humorous face on each card help
to quickly facilitate the exploration and discussion of feelings with children,
teens and adults. There are fortw two Feeling Faces Cards depicting twenty one
common emotions familiar to us all. Each emotion is portrayed by a pair of male
and female Feeling Faces Cards and can be loosely organized under the themes
of Glad, Sad, Mad and Bad.
   
The vibrant, multi-coloured
faces (some of which are featured above) are humorously animated and invite
spontaneous responses, encouraging children and adults to recognize and name
their emotions. Portable and versatile, these cards are easily used one-on-one
or with groups. ractitioners gain valuable information to help support and serve
the emotional needs of children, adults and families. Visually stimulation,
the cards appeal to the imagination and lend themselves to creative practise.
Created and developed
by artist and children's book illustrator, John Beder, BFA, AOCA, artist and
children's books illustrator in 2003, the idea for Feeling Faces came from local
counselors who had been using improvised cards in their practice. There was
an expressed need for a standardized set of cards which could be made widely
available to service providers working with children and families. John decided
it was a good idea, worked with the counselors in a trial and error process,
and the result has been very gratifying.
John is also a
gallery represented oil painter. He paints in contemporary realism and focuses
on how light illuminates the various objects he portrays. Described as a "Romance

Measuring 3.5"x
