of an Indigo Mom
Mommies Come First

 Growing up in a strict Catholic family, I was always taught that too much pleasure, too much money, or too much of anything was considered greedy and not admired in the eyes of God. I was told that there were so many people in the world who had less then us, which was hard to believe because we were really poor. We were expected to give anything extra we had to the needy, ensuring our continuous debt, but securing that place in heaven that my parents worked so hard to attain. Yet, my parents would walk around the house and constantly grieve about their debt and repeatedly say things like, “Why are we always in a rut?”, “How come we can never get ahead?” and “We can’t buy that for you, Jenny, because we have no money!” My mom said that by giving things to the needy, in return, God would bring us bountiful blessings. I looked down at my gym shoes and saw the rubber flap hanging off the entire bottom and couldn’t help but think, “I don’t need bountiful blessings mom, I need shoes.”
Putting others before ourselves sounds like something that resembles Divine love, but recently I’ve learned that there’s nothing more divine then putting ourselves first.
After you board an airplane, a flight attendant demonstrates the use of the oxygen mask and instructs, “Place the oxygen mask on yourself first and then on your child.” I used to think this was insane. I wanted to save my child first. Didn’t they know that mothers would jump in front of a speeding train to save the life of their child? Today, mothers continuously sacrifice their time, looks, hobbies, love life and health for the sake of their children. Yet, most of them would hope that something catastrophic not happen, because no one else could care for their children like they could. We worry about their health, their vitamins, their play time, leaving mommy tired and too burned out to put anything into themselves.
I grew up watching my mother do this and thought that this burned-out look meant I was fulfilling my role as the best mother ever, because I felt and looked exhausted and drained. Then I had a dream, literally, that shifted me into a new way of thinking. It’s really “out there”, and I mean really out there, but just hang in there because the message in the dream was profound.
I dreamed that these Beings from another dimension came down to earth. They placed their palms against each one of our palms, looking for something, and then shook their heads no after checking each person. When they got to me they put their palm against my palm and shouted, “She is the one.” I screamed and asked what they wanted from me. They told me they wanted my son's light. The Beings knew that my son is a pure Crystal child and they wanted to take all of his light, but they had to take his life in order to do this.
I shouted that I would never bring them to my son. They said, “You already have. Your energy brought us right to him.” I looked to my left and my son, Evan, stood there next to me. I clung to him and screamed at the Beings. I begged for a few moments alone with him. They agreed, and I held Evan in my arms. I was overwhelmed with fear and pain and felt so helpless. The only thing I thought to do was call upon Archangel Michael and the Ascended Masters. I asked all of them to be with Evan, to comfort him when the Beings took his life. I asked the Ascended Masters to hold on to Evan's spirit until I could be with him again. With that, the Beings came back and took Evan from me and brought him into a different room. I was able to watch through a tiny window. I stood there, with a bit more confidence, knowing that Evan's spirit was completely protected. I even sent all of my guardian angels with him, so no stone was left unturned. Through the window I watched the Beings approach Evan, and then suddenly they all stopped. I didn’t understand what was going on. I felt a strange presence right next to me. I slowly looked at this Being, and he said, “We were after you all along. We knew you would give all of your protection and energy away to your son.” Just as they were about to end my life, I awoke, screamed and sat up in my bed. It felt so real, and I realized that this was a strong message.
How can I protect my son when I always give everything I have to him? From that point on I made a decision to change. I learned that by improving myself and my happiness first, it will better my son's and everyone else's world around me. It takes some practice and letting go of guilt, but after a while you realize it’s the best thing you will ever do for yourself in this lifetime. Mommy comes first now and the world is a better place because of it!
