NEW KIDS, OLD SOULS
The Freedom of Inner Perfection
by Tigris Powers

When I was young, a regular pastime of mine was to sit on the front porch step
and watch the tireless activity of the ants on the sidewalk below. The tiny
universe beneath my feet mesmerized me. It was a universe that I could alter
with the slightest of movements. The ants were unsuspecting, as they hurried
along, that I was looming high above, a larger-than-life god who could manipulate
their reality. There was a system of communication in the ant’s tiny universe
that fascinated my curious mind. At that young age, I longed to know more about
the interconnectedness of all creatures, the unspoken rhythms and universal
patterns of things; and, though I didn’t know it at the time, ant watching
served as my introduction into the lessons of greater consciousness and the
laws of perfection.
I believe what I was so taken with, in my childhood hours of ant watching,
was the wonderful perfection with which the ants went about their activity.
There was no need to change what they were doing, no need to impose upon them.
There was only a curiosity about what was programming these tiny creatures to
behave in such a way. This is, indeed, what all of nature reveals to us, the
inherent perfection that is present within it. My children have become the sweetest
example of this, as they continue to blossom and unfurl new petals from their
own divine blueprints.
Today there are times that I feel like I’m again sitting on the front
porch step watching the rhythms and universal patterns of a different universe,
only this time it’s the strange and wonderful universe inhabited by my
children. I am again mesmerized. This is a universe that I can alter with the
slightest of actions. It fascinates and intimidates my mind at the same time.
As they hurry along, my children are unsuspecting that I, their larger-than-life
god, have the ability to affect their reality. It is a power that I’m
not sure I want to own, but, in the end, I know that I have been chosen. It
is evident that my children have their own system of communication and perception
that is informing my curious mind all over again.
The Art of Surrender
I try to approach my children’s universe armed with the wisdom and compassion
I’ve gained over the years, for I realize that my precious children are
no less fragile than tiny little insects. However, there are times that I feel
like a clumsy human looking down upon two beings that have come from a more
graceful place. My mind wants to understand them, figure them out, just like
it did the ants. Though I am eager to show them the way, I don’t want
to color their already brilliant view of the world. My spectrum of color seems
pale, washed out even, when compared to their effervescent rainbow. Like so
many of the new children joining us on this planet, my children are artists
seeking to paint the world in a new light.
I recently channeled a message from a three-year-old girl to her parents. This
young girl’s spirit is a true master and her words speak to the creative
soul within us all…
“To know true joy, one must allow the color to fill them, to take in
the vibrations of the divine masterpiece that is this life. Who is the artist?
Each and every individual who is living paints his/her own reality. It is one
thing to live one’s life; it is quite another thing to invoke it. The
artist invokes his/her own reality and also has the potential to alter another's
reality as well. The artist is a gift to the physical world. Where so much has
become concrete and solid, the artist brings the gift of fluid imagery, transmutation
and transcendence.
There are many, many layers that make up this world. One can merely take in
what one sees, or, one can invoke what one sees, draw it out from behind a cloud,
and paint it with one's own color palette. If one doesn't like what one sees,
one has the freedom to add a new color, thus changing the fabric of one's reality
from moment to moment.
Many an artist has struggled through the ages to successfully portray the perfect
nature of life. Many an artist went to his grave feeling that he had failed
this task. In truth, one cannot recreate the perfection of nature. Perfection
cannot be created by man. Some may succeed at duplicating it, but the result
is always void of life and true expression. The artist that strives to create
perfection will always fail, whereas the artist who surrenders to perfection
will achieve miracles. The ego is a skilled artist too. It is the hand of the
ego that strives to create perfection. It is the hand of the soul that surrenders
to the perfection that is inherent in all things.”
We humans strive to understand it, make sense of it, and even map it out for
future generations to discover; but what we often fail to recognize about the
inherent perfection that infuses all of life is that it cannot be intellectualized
from the outside. The perfection of the inner world seeks only to be expressed
from the invisible to the visible, from spirit into matter, where it can be
fully experienced. Where humans too often fail, is in the ego’s desire
to achieve, master, and ultimately interfere with natural perfection. All the
while, wrapping chains around our innate freedom.
Take the rose, for example, that blossoms in perfect beauty for our delight.
Is it not enough to gaze upon the rose’s vibrant color and smell its sweet
perfume? Is it not enough to take in the rose with the heart, to feel its beauty
from the inside? Must we pluck its silken petals, cut it off from its life source
and claim it as our own in order to enjoy its magnificence? The rose blooms
for us to witness its perfection. How will we best come to know that perfection
more intimately, by cutting the flower from its stem and bringing it indoors
to suit our own needs, or by gazing upon it in its natural setting as it dances
in the sunlight and a warm summer breeze? I believe the answer is the latter
of these. Similarly, I believe that the soul most easily expresses its beauty
when the inner perfection of the self is allowed its freedom.
Though the cut rose is still beautiful, it is no longer living. Within the
rose is the source of its unique beauty. The outer appearance of the rose is
fleeting and its petals will eventually fall to the ground and wither away.
This concept is beautifully expressed by Paramhansa Yogananda in, The Rubaiyat
Explained:
“'Look within’, whispers the rose. 'Open your consciousness to
soul-understanding, ere the petals of your life fall and scatter on the garden
path—lovely no longer”.
The Potion of Emotions
And so it is with my children, as they blossom for my delight, I strive to create
the optimum conditions for their potential to be fully realized without becoming
too distracted by their outer petals. I have found that the greatest obstacle
in this delicate system is emotion. There is a tendency for us humans to get
terribly caught up in the glutinous web of emotions. Like nectar from the gods,
emotions tantalize, intoxicate, and even derange us, and yet we adhere strictly
to the path that has been deeply forged in our psyche by a generational dependence
upon the emotional experience of life. As with any potion, just the right amount
has the power to heal, whereas too much can foster addiction and eventually
lead to one’s demise.
Again, I will quote Paramahansa Yogananda’s words to illustrate this
idea, “The end result of emotional extremes is extreme emotional dissatisfaction.”
This brings to mind the many “x-treme” sports of our time, in which
thrill seekers seemingly risk their lives to overcome outrageous obstacles and
prove their athletic ability, as well as their fearless nature. As with any
extreme behavior, it seems that one is never satisfied. There is always more
to conquer, overcome and prove. If one takes a good look at our society these
days, one begins to understand, even expect, such “x-treme” cries
for attention. Our society is dependent upon emotional stimulation, both good
and bad. In humanity today, I believe that the soul is crying out from deep
inside, wanting to be acknowledged and honored. The problem is that many don’t
know what it is inside of them that desires attention. One will go to extremes
to try to quiet the voice, satisfy the craving, and fill the void that is so
strikingly present.
If one steps back and watches humanity in action, one may say that humans have
become like excited ants that scurry about, seeking the next emotional morsel
to feed upon; such as the theatrical illusions of our emotional delusions that
play upon larger-than-life movie screens, fill our living rooms, and tug at
our receptive heart strings, as well as those of our children. In this soul-numbing
reality, the mind becomes the thrill seeker, always on the look out for the
next best thing. It is no different when children come into the picture. We
have toys to distract, stimulate and excite them, even “x-treme”
types of toys for the thrill seeking child. With all of this, one can easily
forget to acknowledge that everything the child needs is resting quietly within
them. In the end, the child is dissatisfied and still craving a deeper soul
connection.
When it comes down to it, the soul seeks only to express its perfect nature
and it is up to the individual to create the optimal environment for this to
occur. The soul’s optimal environment is a state of unwavering calm. While
one can learn to calm the mind, it is important to note that the calm is not
of the mind; rather it is sourced from the heart, where emotion is neutralized.
I would like to share a segment of a message that I channeled from an unborn
spirit child that speaks very clearly of the ego-aspect of our emotions…
“Humans are very much controlled by the power of their emotions. This
is a limiting and false perception of the spirit’s reality. The soul is
subject to the power of human emotions, though the spirit is not. Humanity’s
dependence upon the emotional state often keeps the soul restricted from its
full potential. Emotional memories are responsible for keeping a soul tied to
a past life, another soul, and even trauma and pain that is no longer present.
Human emotion is necessary to experience life, but it does not need to control
one’s life. I have come to help the soul self disconnect from the emotional
body and live a life of freedom. Even now, I am assisting other souls to be
free from the emotional memories that keep them bond to past lives. Why is this
important? Because emotional bondage prevents the soul from moving forward,
past where it has been, toward its highest potential.”
The Soul System
Beyond the sheer wisdom of this spirit child’s message, I found it interesting
to note that this spirit was assisting other souls. This is something I come
across quite often in my communication with unborn spirits; they reveal that
they are “keepers” of other spirits along the soul’s journey,
assisting in other dimensions. They have called themselves, “Spirit Keepers”,
and when I asked the spirits what this term means; I received the following
response… “The Spirit Keepers hold the perfection ‘blueprint’
of the soul and offer assistance toward a state of constant union with the soul’s
greater purpose.”
As you can imagine, this information greatly intrigued me, as it was yet another
clue into the unspoken rhythms and universal patterns of the greater consciousness.
It is comforting to know that there is a system in place; that souls are connected,
behind the scenes, and are assisting one another. Not unlike the ants with their
highly developed logistical systems, souls are interconnected beyond the visible
world. Spirit Keepers know where one’s soul desires to go, and they will
do everything in their power to help both young and old navigate the journey.
One can rest assured that while the ego is stumbling about and trying to claim
its place in the physical world, beyond the confines of the surface mind, help
is at hand.
Every parent knows that his or her child is perfect. As a parent, all egos
aside, when I gazed into the eyes of my children for the first time, I knew
there was an inner perfection that couldn’t be taken away from them, no
matter what happened from that point forward. The first gaze of the parent into
the child’s soul is a magical moment, one that can too easily be forgotten
as the months and years slip by. I suggest that parents consciously recreate
this moment as often as they can. Let’s not be afraid to remind our children
that they hold perfection within them. Freedom may seem to be a rare and precious
gift in this day and age, but the truth is that it comes standard within every
soul. The new children are born with wings and their souls know how to fly free
from the emotional chains and mental restrictions of the past. All that parents
need to do is nurture their child’s inner perfection with love and witness
the miracles that will change our world.
~ I bow to the authentic child in you.
